Well said. Never through the car hire company. There are several websites that offer insurance for the excess, and it's well worth getting.

They always want to hire out brand new cars if they can. It's easier for them to identify any new scratch and overcharge you (or the insurers) to repair it. Best to insist on the oldest car they've got.

What happens if they hit your car that you own?
Its down to you if inadequately insured,
On hired/leased vehicles everyone wants a virgin but return a slapper

You should always get excess cover on a hire car - but NEVER through the car hire company. You can get it for four to five Pounds for a few days in Europe.

So you hired a motor, signed for its condition then 'noticed' additional damage - yeah righto
Bet you paid on a card - enjoy paying it off

I hired an almost brand new car in Spain once. I reversed it into a post denting the back. I handed it back and no one gave a fuck! And being the tight cunt that I am I definately didnt pay extra for insurance
Irons!

Car Hire companies always pressure for extra insurance.
More fool if you've given it a whack or not looked over the car properly.
In this day and age all you do is take a timed picture of any existing damage.
